Announcing a new event for The New York Lisp & Scheme Meetup Group!
What: (meetup 'december "Lisp/Scheme Drinkathon")
When: Wednesday, December 12, 7:00 PM
Where: (A location for this event hasn't been chosen yet)
Event Description: Hi all. I have no specific agenda, but being a Lisper can be a lonely business, so I thought the Schemers and Lispers of the world would benefit from getting together. I'm picturing a bar or a diner, nothing formal. We can discuss R6RS (the latest Scheme report), our favorite Scheme/Lisp implementations, duke it out between Scheme and Common Lisp, discuss any projects we're doing or would like to do, or just gripe about curly braces and for loops. The idea is just to get Lispers interacting, because I know for my part a big impediment to doing more Scheme work is the lack of contact with other Schemers.
All are welcome, lispers and non-lispers, experienced and newbie, provided you bring an open mind and a friendly attitude.
If anyone has suggestions for a meeting place, please let me know, I'm open to any and all ideas.
- Jake
P.S: About me. I currently work for CondeNast as a senior developer on one of their websites, primarily working with Java and Flex. I got into Scheme when I read Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs a few years ago, then tried Common Lisp when I read Practical Common Lisp a couple years after that. I've never worked with Lisp professionally, but I'd like to find a way to do so in the future, particularly Scheme. My resume's at http://jakemiles.com... for anyone interested in my background.
