I don't disagree, but the problem with this is that every time I've seen 
it done, there is some poor schmuck who gets stuck spending a couple of 
days a month trying to drum up someone to give a talk.  And getting blamed 
when the speaker isn't up to par.  I'm not willing to be that schmuck.

Let me ask this question: are *you* willing to give a talk on something? 
Maybe on the demands of the finance industry, and how they're met with 
functional programming?
